Benefits of DHEA:

Benefits of DHEA:

DHEA is a hormone called dehydroepiandrosterone. It is produced by the adrenal glands, is the most abundant steroid in the human bloodstream. This gland is located just above your kidneys.

It is often called the “mother” or precursor hormone because the body readily converts it on demand into active hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone. Beginning at the age of 20, DHEA begins to decline in both men and women.  This decline triggers aging and increased susceptibility to age-related diseases.

Note:  One should not take DHEA supplements unless they are over the age of 40, have hormone imbalances, or have an auto-immune disorder.

Some of the known benefits of having DHEA are:

  • Improves heart’s health: Consuming DHEA on regular basis helps in improving the blood circulation and decreasing risks associated with heart.
  • Strengthens the bones: It has been found that DHEA consumption helps in improving the bone’s health and avoiding osteoporosis in males.
  • Maintains a lean body mass: DHEA helps in increasing metabolism and reducing fats in body. This helps you in losing weight.
  • Slows natural changes that come with age: Since DHEA level in body decreases with age, therefore supplementing your body with DHEA helps slower the ageing process.
  • Increases healthy mood and memory: DHEA helps in improving the memory by stimulating neurons. It also helps in fighting depression and maintain a healthy mood.
  • Builds-up muscle strength: It is found that DHEA supplements are often used by athletes to build up their muscle strength and increase stamina.

DHEA can be a great supplement to add your daily nutrition. But, make sure that you check with your physician about your DHEA requirements.
